I exploit simple compositions captured with a camera and paint on the computer.
Here is how I use the computer with Corel Painter 12 as art tool: I select a source from my own photographs or sketches for reference. I setup a ground color and create a dynamic underpainting to map out my composition. I fill in tonal blocks and begin work on important visual elements creating a purposeful, painterly mess. Then I bring in selected detail elements, without going for perfection, to let color and luminosity define form, rather than interpreting the source literally. Once the digital painting is completed, I print it on canvas and paint with traditional paint to underscore texture.
